WOSC offers a comprehensive goalkeeper program that supports all other programs in the club, both competitive and recreational. The goalkeeper development model allows the WOSC goalkeeper coaches to teach, improve, and perfect the technical and tactical aspects of the game – without detracting from the fun and enjoyment of the sport. Goalkeepers can train up to three times a week (depending on their program/level) and the Goalkeeper Academy if offered twice a year (winter, summer) to provide new or aspiring goalkeepers an opportunity to begin or advance their goalkeeper career.

Recreation Academy – Fundamental & Intermediate
This program has 15 training sessions. The soccer goalkeeper is one of the most important players on the field – they are the last line of defense and the first line of attack. To play the position well requires special skills and training.
The mission of the Academy is to provide excellence in the pursuit of development. Our development model allows us to teach, improve, and perfect technical and tactical aspects of the game, without detracting from fun and enjoyment of playing the game. Every player will come away accepting the importance of hard work, team concepts and commitment. Session by session, step by step you will learn the Academy principles of professionalism, enthusiasm, and dedication.
The Goalkeeping Academy welcomes ambitious players of all abilities; our priority is to ensure development of every player attending the Academy. The program is designed to develop goalkeepers on all aspects of their game, not only technically and physically but also mentally.
These specifically designed sessions incorporate everything the modern day keeper requires and is expected to deliver. From shot stopping to distribution, all aspects are focused on to ensure an all-round player development is achieved.
Sessions will occur on Saturdays between 2:00pm and 6:00pm based on amount of participants.

Representative Academy – Advanced
The Representative Goalkeeper Academy is geared towards the development of the prospect goalkeepers. Goalkeepers will train one (1) time per week for 11 weeks.
Players will be supported by the goalkeeper coach Scott Stuart and will cover the 4 main pillars of development: technical, tactical, physical, and psychological. The main techniques and skills of goalkeeping are: goalkeeping specific warm ups, handling, footwork, diving, shot stopping, 1 v 1 dealing with high balls, dealing with the back pass and distribution from hands and feet. These topics will be covered in realistic match related sessions.
The goal of the Representative Goalkeeper Academy is to help develop and continue to grow goalkeepers through the stages of learning. The program is geared towards players who want to continue to excel in their primary position as a goalkeeper. The aim of the academy will be to improve technique through simple, realistic practices. Sessions will give the goalkeeper the tools they require to be a successful, consistent, reliable performer, to develop movement skills and patterns specific to goalkeeping, and to help with decision making and other psychological aspects of the position.
The experience gained from attending the Representative Goalkeeper Academy will properly prepare players for the transition into the high performance levels.
Sessions will occur on Saturdays between 2:00pm and 6:00pm based on amount of participants.
