U8 to U11
The Skill Centre is a development focused program for young players who want to improve their technical ability, confidence on the ball, and understanding of the game.
This program is a good fit for players who:
• Enjoy training and learning new skills
• Want more structured development
• Are ready to be challenged in a positive, age appropriate environment
• Are ready to commit to soccer 3-4 days a week.

Registration for U8 to U11 Open Observation Sessions opens January 29 at 12 pm.
Open Observation Sessions are required for players who did not participate in the 2025 to 2026 Winter Skill Centre and wish to join the Summer Skill Centre program.
Each registered player will attend two Open Observation sessions.
NOTE: There are no parents allowed inside the domes for all open observation sessions.
Sessions are designed using age-appropriate game formats where players are observed by WOSC coaches and technical staff.
Following the second session, families will receive a program recommendation by email within three (3) business days, aligned with what is best for the player’s development.
A Skill Centre is an individualized player development model where players have equal access to all coaches within their age group.
The focus is on long term development rather than fixed teams.
• Players in the same age group train at the same time and location whenever possible
• One weekly session uses station-based training where players rotate between coaches
• One weekly session is team-based with a designated game day coach
• Player groupings are based on similar ability levels
• Individual development is prioritized over team identity
Training is designed to:
• Maximize contact time with the ball
• Use game like situations rather than isolated drills
• Encourage decision making and creativity
• Be fun, engaging, and age appropriate
Unless otherwise noted, Summer Skill Centre programs run from after March break through mid September.
There is the potential for a 2 week mid summer break, which is determined by the district. WOSC will share more info when we receive it.
Exact dates and details are shared at the start of the season.
Training sessions missed due to inclement weather are not rescheduled.
Club registration fees do not include costs associated with festivals or tournaments that teams choose to enter.
All Skill Centre players are charged a performance and development fee and one hundred percent of this fee is reinvested into coaching, training, and the overall development environment.
• While the player end of season banquet is part of the program, it is not included in the base registration fee and is added as a separate $75 charge.
All Skill Centre players are required to wear the official PUMA uniform and club gear package, purchased separately.
Players who already own the current kit are not required to repurchase it.
Families are responsible for ordering the correct jersey number as assigned by the club. West Ottawa Soccer is not responsible for replacing jerseys ordered incorrectly.
